The mistake made by many new entrant Chinese brands has been that of selling to any company which approaches them, regardless. Such a situation leads to the proliferation of the product on cheap auction sites and online stores, with proprietors having no specific grounding in surveillance techniques.
Product sales explode, amongst the DIY installers – and end up in numeorus cheap and poorly maintained installations.
The problem resulting from this approach is that there is an initial spurt of sales, which rapidly tails off, the brand develops a reputation of being unreliable and having no backup support.
Mainstream integrators shy away from supporting the product, as margins are too low, with potential customers pointing to the cheap prices on auction and online stores.
Mainstream distributors shy away from investing in the expensive task of brand promotion and infrastructure development as there will be no significant return when competing with over the counter, no backup, suppliers.
