IP surveillance has failed to gain much support amongst China’s surveillance manufacturers
since first appearing in the early 2000′s
Makers continue to be discouraged from entering the line.
One of the reasons cited is low market acceptance. Other factors are listed as the high technology threshold
and price.
IP camera production in China is still a fraction of that of analog output.
As of March 2009 there are only about 50 active IP manufacturers in that segment, within China.
Less than 5% of cameras manufactured are IP
The production of IP cameras during 2008 was estimated at less than 5% of the total camera output
for that year. 50% of consumption was taken up by the domestic Chinese market.
